The Sasak Warriors community fundraising program is a grassroots initiative established by Rinjani Dawn Adventures in the wake of the 2018 Lombok earthquakes. The program provided support to villagers in Senaru and a few other locations, helping them to rebuild their homes and providing assistance with food and water.
In 2023, Rinjani Dawn Adventures is expanding the Sasak Warriors program to include two new initiatives: raising money for a school bus/ambulance and funding regular rubbish clean-ups on Mt Rinjani.
The need for a school bus/ambulance in the local community is pressing. Currently, many children have to walk long distances to get to school, which can be dangerous and tiring. Others ride scooters on busy roads, which often results in accidents and tragic deaths. Many children simply don’t go to school because their parents have no access to transportation. A school bus would not only provide a safe and reliable mode of transportation for these children, but it could also be used as an ambulance in case of emergencies.
Funding regular rubbish clean-ups on Mt Rinjani is another important aspect of the Sasak Warriors 2023 program. Mt Rinjani is a popular tourist destination, but unfortunately, it has also become a dumping ground for trash by budget and unlicensed operators. By organizing regular clean-up efforts, we hope to preserve the natural beauty of the mountain and protect the environment.
