Day 2 is the most challenging and rewarding part of the trek, covering about 17km with a 1,750m ascent to the summit of Mount Rinjani, followed by a descent of over 2,500m. Witness the spectacular sunrise from the summit before descending into the crater to Segara Anak Lake. Relax by the serene waters, soak in the rejuvenating thermal springs, and enjoy a lakeside lunch before tackling the 6km descent via the Torean route. The trail down to Torean is steep and requires careful footing, with sections not suitable for those with vertigo or a fear of heights. The day ends with an overnight campsite near the stunning Penimbungan Waterfall, offering a peaceful spot to rest after an exhilarating day.

On Day 3, you’ll descend approximately 5km from the campsite to Torean Village, losing about 800m in elevation. The trail winds through lush valleys and alongside pristine rivers, providing a tranquil finale to your adventure. Upon reaching Torean Village, your transport will be ready to take you to your next destination.

While the Torean Trek is typically undertaken as described, it is possible to attempt the route in reverse, starting in Torean and finishing in Sembalun. However, we generally recommend the standard route for the best overall experience.

With a total distance of around 32km and significant elevation changes, this trek is best suited for experienced trekkers. The Torean route allows you to explore Rinjani’s summit, Segara Anak Lake, and the dramatic Torean Valley, offering an unforgettable journey through Lombok’s wildest and most stunning landscapes.
