Lombok Transport Zones – Free Pickup & Dropoff Map
Getting to the start of your Rinjani trek or Lombok tour is easy. Rinjani Dawn Adventures offers pickup and dropoff across Lombok, and the good news is that most of the island falls within our free zone — so there’s a strong chance your hotel, villa, or port is already covered at no extra cost.
We use private cars and minibuses for all transfers. Most of the time your transfer will be private, but occasionally – particularly for solo travellers – we may combine pickups with another small group heading in the same direction. If a fully private transfer is important to you, just let us know when booking.
Zone 1 – Free Pickup and Dropoff
Most of north Lombok is covered by our free Lombok transport zone, including popular areas such as Senaru, Mataram, Lombok International Airport (LOP), Bangsal Harbour, Senggigi, Mangsit, and Sembalun Lawang. If you’re staying anywhere in North or Central Lombok, there’s a very good chance your pickup is completely free.
Zones 2–8 – Surcharge Areas
For more distant or remote locations – such as the Gili Islands, the South Coast, the Sekotong Peninsula, and the Far East Coast – a small transport surcharge applies. These areas require longer drives or private speedboat transfers, so an additional fee is charged per group, not per person.
Use the interactive map above to find your zone and check your surcharge before booking.
How Transport Works
All Rinjani Dawn Adventures transfers use private vehicles – either a private car or a minibus depending on your group size. You won’t share your transfer with strangers. Your driver will collect you directly from your accommodation and drop you back there at the end of your tour or trek.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is pickup really free for most of Lombok?
Yes. Zone 1 covers a large portion of the island including all the main tourist areas in the north and centre of Lombok. If you’re staying in Senaru, Mataram, Senggigi, or anywhere near Lombok Airport, your pickup and dropoff is included in your trek or tour price.
How do I know which zone I’m in?
Use the interactive map at the top of this page. Click on your area to see which zone applies and what the surcharge is, if any. You can also use the search function – type in the name of your hotel or the area you’re staying in, and the map will automatically tell you which zone you’re in.
Is the surcharge per person or per group?
The transport surcharge is charged per group, not per person. So if you’re travelling with friends or family, you split the cost between you.
What type of vehicle will pick me up?
We use private cars and minibuses depending on your group size. Most of the time your transfer will be private, but occasionally — particularly for solo travellers — we may combine pickups with another small group heading in the same direction. If a fully private transfer is important to you, just let us know when booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate that.
I’m arriving by ferry at Bangsal Harbour – is that covered?
Yes, Bangsal Harbour is within Zone 1 and is covered by free pickup and dropoff. However, please note that public boats from the Gili Islands do not arrive at Bangsal Harbour early enough for a Rinjani trek departure. If you are travelling from the Gilis, we strongly recommend coming to Senaru the day before your trek, or arranging a private speedboat transfer from the Gilis on the morning of the trek. Private speedboat transfers are available at a surcharge of $30 USD per group and must be arranged a few days in advance.
What if I’m staying on the Gili Islands the night before my Rinjani trek?
We don’t recommend staying on the Gili Islands the night before your Mount Rinjani trek – we recommend staying on the mainland, preferably Senaru. However, if you are on the Gilis, it is possible to arrange a private speedboat transfer early in the morning. This comes at a surcharge of $30 USD per group and must be arranged a few days in advance of your trek at the latest.
What if I’m staying far from Rinjani the night before my trek?
We don’t recommend staying far away the night before a Rinjani trek. If you are, it may result in a very early pickup on the morning of your trek — sometimes as early as 03:30. We’re happy to advise on the best place to stay the night before — just get in touch.
Can I organise my own transport to the trailhead?
Yes. If you have your own transport, you’re welcome to make your own way to our office in Senaru. You can leave your scooter or car in Senaru for the duration of the trek, although we accept no liability for theft or damage. If you arrange your own transport, we can offer a generous discount on your trek price.
Are Google Maps travel times accurate for Lombok?
Most of the time, yes – Google travel times are fairly accurate for Lombok. However, on public holidays or market days there can be delays, so it’s worth building in a little extra time if you’re travelling on those days.
What if my location isn’t on the map?
Get in touch with us directly and we’ll work out the best transport solution for you. We’re happy to help with unusual locations or custom pickup arrangements.
