Embark on the Ultimate Pergasingan Hill Camping Adventure

The trek to Pergasingan Hill covers a distance of around 5.5 km round trip, with an elevation gain of approximately 650 meters. The trail begins in Sembalun Village and leads up to the hilltop campsite, offering stunning panoramic views along the way. The trek typically takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the campsite, depending on your pace and fitness level.

For the Pergasingan Hill Camping Adventure, we recommend packing the following essentials:

• Warm clothing for the evening (temperatures can drop at night)
• Personal medication
• Daypack for carrying personal items
• Flashlight or headlamp for nighttime

No need to bring your own camping equipment! All camping gear is provided as part of the Pergasingan Hill Camping Adventure. This includes tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, and cooking equipment. Our porters will carry and set up the equipment, ensuring a hassle-free camping experience for you.

You will be offered lunch at Cafe Rinjani Dawn in Senaru, prior to your departure to Sembalun. During the Pergasingan Hill Camping Adventure, you will be provided with a freshly prepared hot dinner upon reaching the campsite, as well as breakfast the following morning. The meals are cooked by our experienced guides and porters using fresh local ingredients. We can cater to dietary requirements, including gluten and lactose intolerance, vegan and vegetarian diets, and Halal meals—just let us know in advance. When you return to Senaru on the second day, you will be offered coffee and cake at our restaurant.

The Pergasingan Hill trek is more suited for those with some trekking experience or a moderate level of fitness. While it is shorter than other treks, such as the Mt. Rinjani summit, the steep sections can be challenging for beginners. However, with determination and a reasonable level of fitness, many people find this trek manageable and rewarding.

The best time to hike Pergasingan Hill is during the dry season, which typically runs from April to October. During this time, the weather is more predictable, and the trails are dry, making for a safer and more enjoyable trekking experience. The views are also clearer, with less cloud cover obscuring the stunning panoramas. That said, it is also possible to climb Pergasingan Hill in November through to March, so long as you accept the possibility of rain.

Solo travelers are welcome to book the Pergasingan Hill Camping Adventure. However, as this trek is not run as frequently as our Mt. Rinjani packages, we require a minimum of two participants. If no group is available on your requested date, we may charge an additional fee to run the trek as a private adventure. We will do our best to match you with an existing group to avoid extra costs.

Yes, we highly recommend using trekking poles for the Pergasingan Hill trek, especially for the steep sections. Trekking poles provide extra stability and can reduce the strain on your legs during the ascent and descent. We offer trekking poles free of charge, and you can collect them after lunch at Cafe Rinjani Dawn before heading to Sembalun for the trek.
