Senaru Crater Rim 2 Day / 1 Night
Our Senaru Crater Rim 2 day / 1 night trek is suitable for people wishing to experience a challenging two-day adventure on Lombok, climbing to one of the finest viewpoints the island has to offer. Starting and finishing in Senaru Village in North Lombok, this 2 day / 1 night package will take you into the heart of Gunung Rinjani National Park (a UNESCO geopark). On day one, you will ascend through thick virgin rainforest that blankets the lower slopes of Mt Rinjani. Breaking the tree line in the afternoon, you will follow grassy ridgelines up to Senaru Crater Rim. The campsite at Senaru Crater Rim (also known as Plawangan Senaru) is unique in its location and aspect. To the North East is Mount Rinjani’s imposing summit, whilst below the graduated colours of lake Segara Anak & Mt Barujari (an active volcano) rouse the imagination. On a clear day it’s possible to see the three famous Gili Isles to the West – Gili Trawangan, Meno and Air, dotted on the glistening water of the Lombok Strait. Behind these three tiny islands, Bali’s Mt Agung sits high above the horizon. If you’re seeking an adventure brimming with stunning locations and panoramic views then our Senaru Crater Rim 2 day / 1-night trek is the package for you!
Why trek to Senaru Crater Rim?
Trekking to Senaru Crater Rim allows travellers to experience the dramatic landscapes and beautiful scenery of Gunung Rinjani National Park in a short 2 day / 1 night timeframe. Unlike our Mt Rinjani summit packages this trek is achievable for most fitness levels, but still represents a genuine challenge requiring some endurance and determination! The trek is a total of 21km in distance, with a 2000m elevation gain on day one, including some prolonged ascents. The Senaru Crater Rim package will leave you feeling exhilarated! Spending time in nature can be excellent for de-stressing and “re-charging the soul”. This wonderful tour may leave you feeling tired and a little sore by the end of day two, but we hope you’ll feel rejuvenated on a deeper level, with a rekindled sense of adventure and zest for life.
Environmental & Social Responsibility
Rinjani Dawn Adventures is committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable travel. We do our best minimise the usage of packaged foods, and remove all our waste from the mountain. We also ask our porters and guides to go the extra mile by removing pre-existing waste left by other companies where possible. Rinjani Dawn Adventures has forged strong ties with the local community in Senaru, especially during the 2018 earthquakes. Through our “Sasak Warriors” program, we have helped provide Senaru with fresh drinking water, medical aid, and materials for re-building houses. This is an on-going commitment, which we hope to expand over the coming years.
Safety
Rinjani Dawn Adventures was founded on a partnership between western and local owners. This has brought a greater depth of knowledge, experience, and higher standards of safety and customer service. Although the odds of serious injury whilst trekking to Senaru Crater Rim are relatively low, we have a thorough risk assessment and rescue plan in place.
Getting to Senaru
We recommend an early start for all our trekking packages. Starting early allows for longer rest breaks, and more time to enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna. We recommend starting this trek no later than 9am. If you’re staying on mainland Lombok the night before your trek, we can arrange our driver to collect you from your hotel early. Transport from Mataram, Sengiggi, Bangsal Harbour and other “Zone 1” locations are included in the price of the package. Transport from greater distances incurs an additional charge (please refer to our travel zone map in the booking portal). Should you wish to travel to Senaru the day before the trek to explore some of the beautiful waterfalls and surroundings, we can arrange this at no extra charge. We can also assist with Senaru accommodation recommendations, and bookings.
* Price is based on 2 people minimum. If a solo traveler / private tour, the cost will be higher. If you are booking for more than 2 people, we can give you a discounted rate. If you have your own transport, or are in Senaru, we can give you a discounted price (as transport accounts for most of our costs). Please send an enquiry if you have any questions, we will be delighted to help you in any way we can.
* Please note that although the displayed price is in USD, our tours are invoiced in Indonesian Rupiah. The reason we list our tours in USD is to make it easier for customers to understand the price. The price of this package is 3,000,000 IDR per person.
